e36 headunit wiring help

hey i have a quick question. first off i searched and looked through five diy's but couldn't find the answer. i got out the head unit but i can't get the factory harness off. i pulled up the retaining clip about half way, but can't get it any further. am i supposed to pull up all the way or pull up as much as i can and then pull out? any help is much appretiated. thanks in advance.

Pry it upward until it releases from the deck. Dont be gentle.

yeah thanks. i finally got it using an assortment of screw drivers to pry it up. thanks for the help.
