    Shifter Mystery

I can feel the offset of the stick when on neutral on a stop leaning to the right. So sometimes when I wana go to 3rd, push it forward, then bam! it would go on the 5th rather than 3rd! This is very rare but it happens sometimes.

no problem man. yeah i think we all have the problem. thing to do is just let the tranny warm up a little bit before sticking it in 5th, and you wont run into any problems

    No more BMWs :(
well, I wouldn't say its' "normal", but it is common. I have it intermittently on my 99' when its' cold (not outside cold, operating temp cold), and I find it usually cures itself once the tranny gets hot. I also find it seems to happen more when I don't drive the car often.

You can also search the term "shift pins"

Mine was fine until I changed the transmission fluid. Now it happens everytime I drive it until the transmission warms up.
