Which is the better "Performance Tuner"?

Like the thread title says. I saw a comparison not too long ago and I believe Hamman was the end all decision.

    1.Dinan
    2.Hartge
    3.Hamann
    4.Alpina

I think you left a lot of people out and just went with the expensive ones. You left out ACS, and other companies like Rouge and Tuner Motorsports.

I went with those because that was in the original article. I was looking to see if enthusiasts and knowledgeable owners differed in opinion based on biases or facts. Seems the article was focused more on track times and g forces rather than livability..

Sure glad I've got spell check, ROFL

I find your poll flawed. Your question would be similar to asking, 'Of all of the fruits in the world, which is the best?.... Apples or Oranges?'

Or for you Colbert Report fans... Iraq War: Great war? Or greatest war?

Its just not a good question!

And what article are you referring to?

All the companies have different purposes and do different stuff.

Are you looking at getting something done and need advice on what company to go with?

In the near future I'll be going with Hamann, hear alot of talk regarding the Alpina's (don't like the wheels) and Dinan with close to nothing of Hartge.

Nothing in particular as far as the poll goes, was interested in peoples perceptions and "druthers".

Looks like unless your going to get used Hamann parts or get a different car they sell nothing for your 7er. Dinan sells parts for your 7.

As does Hartge, no I'll be picking up something newer/different within the year. Hoping for a 6er, but may have to go with a 5er depending on depreciation.

Anyways, guess I sux at da poll thingy..

Hamann is more into body kits IMO. I mean, they have performance stuff, but that isn't what you see when you look at them. They have really heavy wheels, ugly body kits, and do a lambo style door. That to me isn't tuning. I'd rather go with hartge. They are more classic, IMO, plus they stick V8s in EVERYTHING. an S62 powered Z4... now that's tuning!

I can say no to an alpina Z8. automatic

I like that hamann front bumper on the 6, but I don't like anything else about it. Which is different from the ACS kit, where I hate the front bumper, but love everything else.

I don't think Hamman is a performance tuner at all. maybe mufflers or a chip somewhere in there. but they are mostly about visual modifications. Never heard of a hamman intake or turbo or supercharger. Hartge has some crazy cars like the v10 e90 but thats not something regular people buy, I don't know if anybody actually buys that. Alpina and Dinan do it all to cars and Alpina cars are considered to be a whole car on their own. Dinan is also backed by the dealership. depends if your just looking at performance. Active autowerks, ICS and others make serious power mods but don't do body work.

Rouge does nice work, and Turner is really a reseller, but so is damn near everybody.

My vote would got to Alpina since they like to mess with the 6,7 and 8 series too not just the 3 and 5
