Maybe all she needs is some new valve stem seals. But if you pull the head, you may as well install new valve guides and re seat the valves.

What the heck, just make a full project out of it. :

What color smoke is it? Sometimes it can just be a lot of the carbon build up burning out if you haven't revved the car very much lately.

My car gets pretty sooty when I rev it, and I can really smell the carbon burning.

Its white (I run synth by the way), and the car is daily driven almost 100 miles.

White smoke is usually water. Check the coolant level and condition. Also check the engine oil. You may have blown a head gasket.

This wouldn't necessarily apply if the smoke is white, but is the car chipped?

    What he said!

Check the oil and see if it is milky, like coolant could be in there. Also, check the coolant for oil.

What would you have to do if there was coolant in the oil? After I got in an accident the radiator came unhooked and came forward and the hose touched the alternator and coolant exploded out of it everywhere so I replaced the hose and coolant but there is now some white smoke out the muffler?

Oil and coolant level look ok, but I do seem to go through a quart every 1k miles or less which isn't all too uncommon...

Rollen, if you found coolant in the oil, you first would have to drain all the oil, replace the head gasket and or head (depending on the cause of the coolant leak. Could even happen by a cracked block.) Then flush the engine completely.

From what you described, your event would not be cause for alarm of getting coolant in the oil. That is unless the engine overheated and the head or block cracked or the head gasket blew.
