Hey all,
I have a budget soundsystem in my car...
currently got a 1400w peak 12" sub and a 600w peak 2nd hand amp. To be honest it sounds great, but i want more!
So anyway, i've bought a load of stuff cheap off my brother-in-law. I got another 12" sub, a Kenwood kac-749S amp, and a Jensen XA2150 amp.
I paid £60 for all this ($110) used.
My question is firstly, will installing all this improve my bass? And secondly, how do i wire additional amps into the setup and give them the signal from the headunit? Is it as simple as i think it is (go buy some phono splitters/ more battery/earth cables), or do i need a new wiring kit or something?
Please dont suggest i bin it all and spend some money on some propper equipment, cos i dont want to!
The specs for my 2 new amps are in the following 2 links :

http://www.epinions.com/513673_Kenwood_40W_x_4_Amplifier_KAC_749S/display_~full_specs
So, please tell me what would be the best setup for me to have in my boot. If anyone wants to take the time, could you draw me a picture of the wiring setup??
And finally... is all this gonna flatten my battery? Do i need to but a power cap before i install it all?
Many thanks,
Chris.

I would never install mismatched subs. One will play differently from the other. i also would neverpower two subs from two completely different amps.
The kenwood would be a decent F&R speaker amp, but neither is suitable for a sub, or two.
What do you have now EXACTLY. I could care less about the peak power, that's what we used to call "struck by lightning and or goes up in smoke instantly" measurement.
I get what you're saying about the mismatch thing, but im not worried about that. All i want is a big increase in bass (so i can hear it in the car, not only when the trunks open!)
Installed right now, i have a Legacy 12", and a Boss Sounds 600w peak amp. I know peak values are worthless, but i have no RMS figures for them. Total cost of these items was about $100. Yes, they are satisfactory, but i want some crazy bass.
So, I just bought 2 more amps + 1 more sub 2nd hand for another $110. All i want to know is how to wire it up, and weather or not it will drain my battery.
Thanks.

get some quality stuff, or at least mid grade. Legacy has no place in a bmw. I have 1 sub and 1 amp for bass, and I can outbump dual 12 setups. What i have is an infinity referance series dvc sub, rated at 300rms. I have a newer model sony amp, bridged running at 340rms @ 4 ohms. The sub is mounted in approximetly 1.9-2.1 cubic foot slot ported box tuned to 34hz... This will blurr your vision, tilt your rear view mirror and be heard for over a block away... Its all in quality equipment and install... quality over quantity.
quality? sony? haahahahahaahahOriginally Posted by Midwestguy

lame
sony is midgrade.. better than legasy anyday... i'll soon be upgrading to hifonics or pg stuff.. these amps where just to get things goin till i have enough cash stored away to get something nice.
Sell all the crap you have and get one or two good 12's and a good amp. All you have now is a big compilation of crap and want to add more crap to it.

All of these features packed into what is arguably some of the most cosmetically appealing units this year, with two year warranty and at very competitive pricing to boot.
Although I have to admit that no Japanese company really has figured out the American amplifier, speaker and subwoofer market, Sony is no worse than Kenwood, Pioneer, Eclipse, or Alpine ,..... (or no better for that matter too).
When it comes to head units, the Japanese own the market. Name ONE affordable high end head unit made in the US.
If you do not agree with me, ask Ken (el.duderino), I bet he feels the same way.

Now here it goes quick and to the point I have one mono block and one 4 ch amp that I want to add to my stock BMW32OI system? A) do I only use 1 lineout converter for both amps or do I run a second lineout converter to run the second amp? Yes I know my mono block should have line outputs .but my ? Is what's safer
Hi,
Holy eleven year thread bump !!
The best practice way would be to add a sound processor to all the outputs of the OEM amplifier you have. As you don't mention which oem setup is in the car, then it might be one of the oem setups which splits the frequency bands to different suitable drivers. A sound processor can take all those and internally 'sum' them to make one clean full range output which then you connect to the amplifier(s) of your choice and then of course to upgraded and better speakers of your choice.
Line Output Converters are the 'basic' route and aren't suited unless the oem amplifier you have outputs a 'full range' speaker output on each channel.
Cheers, Dennis!
