1700 for respraying the hood, nose panel and bumper???

i just got quoted 1000 to respray the hood, 1300 for hood and nose panel and 1700 for hood, nose panel, and bumper. these guys are the best in town but that seemed outrageous. They have a lifetime guarantee and all that, but still. Anyways what did it cost you guys for similar things???

Wow I painted my whole car for $1100! That included painting an M Technic bumper seperately. I couldn't bring myself to spending any more on a paint job for a car that isn't worth a whole lot of money.
I think the car looks pretty nice though, I still haven't even wet sanded and polished it yet....

I did get a deal, but still, your estimate is outrageous.

The bumpers are ABS. Why don't you just spray those portions yourself? You would spend no more than $100 in primer, paint, and sandpaper. Double that amount if you want to do the hood.

Order lots of aerosol cans and buy contractors quantities of sandpaper. This is how I am color matching my bumpers.

For a good job this estimate is about right. 1100 for the whole car is probably pretty poor quality paint job. You gey what you pay for.

Not always, and a lot of people have become very wealthy taking advantage of people who think that way.

With a million shops aroud, some people do good work at fair prices just to undercut "the best guy in town". For a lot of good body shops, getting paid for a $2K paint job is better than giving a $4K estimate and not getting the sale. The reduced profit is more than made up for in increased volume.

Honeslty, unless it's a Ferrari or something, if you are willing to pull the lights mouldings etc. yourself, there is no reason a quality respray should cost more than $2k. As much of a black art that people like to think it is, auto paint and body isn't rocket science.

I had a dent taken out of my hood, and the nose, and front and rear bumpers sprayed for 800. I paid cash, that always helps

Agreed, But the reality is most paint jobs that cost under 2k if you just drop the car off to be done are not the best paint jobs.

Any way just sayin this estimate is probably from a pretty reputable shop that does good work. Im sure you can find a much cheaper quote somewhere else. Even mako will do it for a lot less than that....

I had my front bumper, nose panel, hood, eyelids, and antenna painted for 500 they do great job with sanding priming....and original BMW paint, and plus they had to remove couple of dents from the hood. But they also told me if it wasnt for the dents they would of done for 250 so I think I got a great deal
