ok....well this all started few weeks ago. If anybody remembers...i was having problems with my car starting for a few weeks. Here is the thread:

so i am driving on the thruway yesterday...as soon as i get on, my car just shuts off. I try to turn it back on, but it will only crank and not turn over. I let it sit for a few min, tried it again...it then seemed like it was about to turn over, but it bogged and just strated cranking and cranking. Now it just cranks if i try to start it. The problem felt like i was out of gas...but i had a quarter tank...and put more in just to see. I just changed my plugs a few weeks ago. I am changing my fuel filter today. I don't hear the fuel pump even go on when i turn the key....so i don't know.
anybody have any idea what could be the problem?
please..any info would be great
Thanks!

I seem to be having this same problem. I have a '80 528i (E12 I think) and when I turn the key the engine will turn over, but will not start. I know that I am not getting any spark from testing with an old plug and a friend trying to crank it. I have replaced the distributor cap, plugs and wires and the ignition coil. I see people talking about the fuel pump and it actually "pumping". Can someone tell me where it would be located on my car? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
