car wont start: starter clicks as if trying to engage flywheel but cant

When I turn the key, I get a clickclickclickclickclick for as long as I hold down the key. I'm guessing that the starter isnt engaging the flywheel and the gears are just grinding.

Anyone?

Probably the battery, take it and have it checked, it may have a bad cell. Next I would assume the alternator, you can also have that checked. Take it to an AutoZone, they check these items for free.

i started it earlier today though and it worked fine. Ill hook it up to my charger and try to start it
