this is a good idea actually, i like...

the only way i can think of is to just split the wires from one of the interior lights, run it through the firewall and hook it up to the angel eyes wiring. not 100% if this will work but maybe someone can give feedback on this

my friend has the remote-on kit on his e46, it makes the angel eyes turn on with the interior lights. so when he unlocks the car they turn on and fade off like 10 seconds later. and when he locks the car they fade off..

there is a DIY on it:

all you do really is just connect your driver side foot area interior light; with your parking lights; and then add a diode in between so that your interior lights don't go on whenever your angels are on.

    Pretty nice mod.

A diode basically only lets the current go one way.. so you can use that to stop your interior lights to be on whenever your angels are on.

And you just use the parking light wire in the "light selector" panel and connect it with the interior foot light.

I've done the same thing, but I used a relay between the interior lights/parking lights. Just stuck it in parallel so it doesn't affect the current headlight system.

All of the current DDE halo kits include the remote-on feature standard. All you need to do is tap in to the 12v+ wire running to your foot well lights.

I ran a wire into the cabin to a switch next to my ASC switch to control the DDE relay. Now so long as my car is on, I can control it on/off. For your idea, you can tap the relay control to the parking light.

Prehaps tap into the sunroof light? That turns on when the car is unlocked and remains on for the duration of the drive.

Why run a wire aaaaaallll the way up to the sunroof/dome when you've got the footwell light right there next to the firewall pass-through?

You do not need a diode or a relay. If you run it in parallel from the hot side of the footwell light and connect it to the lead (positive) wire of your inverter where you connect your parking lights, the DDEs will turn on when the valet lights come on and when the parking lights come on. Since the valet lights have no ground through the valet relay until you open the door, having the parking lights on will NOT effect your interior lights. Also if you have your door open and your parking lights on you will not hurt anything because the inverter uses so little power.

One member on the boards had 'mood lighting' installed in his grill to do the exact same thing and he did not use diodes or relays, and everything worked just fine.

Same. Hence why I thought of the sunroof. However, I believe that the switch for the lights is the same? Yeah, it would be a waste of time to run it all the way to the sunroof.
