    BMW 3-series - m3 insurance costs....

So, if you guys don't mind me asking, how much do you pay for your insurance, what's your age, car, year, and location? I want a BMW M3, but don't know if the difference in insurance between the 328 is great enough to get a 328. If the 328 is bad, I guess I'll have to get the 318. The more posts the better, then my estimates will be more accurate....

    Peace out:

EDIT: How about some guys with non m3 bmw 3 series too?

Dang, I thought my M3 insurance was high.

    36/Male/Single/No Tickets/No Accidents/No Claims/Arkansas/Southern Farm Bureau Insurance

    1995 M3 5 speed = $1270/yr w/$250 comp & $500 collision deductible.

I also have a 2000 Toyota Tundra 4x4 pickup that costs about $800 per year to insure with the same limits as the M3.

I'm thinking about raising my deductable limits to $500 comp and $1000 collision to lower my automobile insurance cost.

    $1500 a yr

    17/male/no tickets to report (yet)/1 accident/State Farm

we listed the car as a supplementary car that isn't being driven everyday, on top of that they listed me as a secondary driver. So, god forbid, I get into an accident it's driving my "dad's weekend car". With me as the primary driver insurance was close to $4700 a year.

    NJ resident here.

    age: 30, single

$245 per month w/ full coverage, $1000 deductibles, and 4 insurance points for speeding (in excess of 15mph).

Note for NJ residents: Installation of LoJack will lower your theft insurance premiums for a full 25%, which is the maximum insurance discount allowed in the state of NJ. That is a good savings overall if you think about it.

Now - here's a comparison for ya - my prior car was a 1996 Ford Mustang Cobra, with $500 deductibles, SAME exact coverage overall, with the same points. My payment per month on that car was only $165 per month.... How's that for a comparison? The increase in coverage is due to the fact that the M3, or BMW in general uses genuine BMW crash replacement parts not repros or "cheap imitation parts", plus the overall build quality and replacement value is much higher compared to domestic vehicles.

Good luck if you go with an M3. NJ is TERRIBLE for insurance premiums on an M3 in my opinion.

I might be of great help:

    24/male
    Atlanta, GA
    325i
    Full coverage
    $50 deductible comprehensive
    3 tickets
    No other history
    $125/month

I turned 25 two days before I got my M3.
    Now, $135 month.

It was going to be about $40/month more from the 325i to the M3, but I turned 25, so I got that discount. I had assumed the costs to be prohibitive, so I was shocked to find that the ///M insurance wasn't *THAT* much worse than the 325i insurance. Go for it, man!!!

Wow you M3 guys are paying a LOT of money. Over 3 K a year in insurance does not make it worth it to me to drive an M. I'll wait 2 more years......

    - (3) speeding
    - ran red light

Been driving since i was 16
    almost 20 now.
most of the accidents and tickets i got close to 3 years ago
my insurance should drop considerably soon
    Ive been a good boy

I have a question: if you have two seperate insurance policies will they both pay the value of someones car?(if totalled) so you can have double the money?

Looks like I'll get the 328 over the M3. I realy, REALY like the M3 but I just can't see myself spending 4000 dollars a year on insurance. That's like buying a Camaro IROC each year.

Too bad my sister got the Integra, that's a realy fun car to drive, even with the base engine. It's so light, and the handling is great too. If she didn't get that car, I probably would have got one. But it is FWD, she's also paying only 1700 a year, and she's 18.

Another car I'll consider is the Nissan 240sx. I realy would rather have the bimmer over it because of the extra power, and the inline 6, great balance, but if the 240 is a lot cheaper to insure than the 328 I'll have to test drive it and see if it's worth it.

I'll still call just for fun and get a quote on the Nissan 300zx, and the BMW M3, but I doubt me, a 17 year old male in NJ is going to get under 2500 a year for insurance even if it's under my dad's name. Anyone know any other cars to consider that are fun, great for the track (circut), and won't cost an arm and a leg to insure? Trust me, I've considered everything, I was looking for a car for several years. I decided to go something imported, japanese or the BMW 3 series e36 because these cars are great with reliability. There are a lot of great american cars out there, but I don't want something that will break down a lot. I have a classic car that I'm sure won't let me down with that:

Yeah, I longed for a M3, and wavered inbetween a modded 328 and M3 for a while.. but until I'm 25, no M for me. When the time comes, I'll probably be able to afford a used E46 SMG M3, or just maybe an M5.

22/m, clean record, Bay Area. M3 is on the boat, but I've gotten quotes and am looking at about $1000-$1300/yr depending on coverages and deductables.

Wow, that is very cheap. While living a short while in your state (IN), I had one of my least expensive insurance premiums. Now in CA:

I pay 300 a month.. 1000 dollar deductible.. (I had 500 deductible at 400/month, can you figure out why I changed it?)

When I was getting quotes this is how they ended up

    318 was cheapest
    M3 was next
328 4 door manual was next
    328 2 door manual
    then the autos
    then 325s
