So I was putting on a new shiney hood emblem, something that is real simple to do, unless you mess up!
Any suggestions how to get that busted piece out so I can put in the new one?
If you don't have any luck with needlenose pliers, just poke the piece of plastic through and let it fall out the other side.
I tried needle nose but the plastic is to soft (12 years old) and if you push it through it doesn't jsut fall right through there is that pastic cloth thing on the other side of the hood.Originally Posted by supark
just undo a few clips on the front of the heat shield and you can pull the clip out.Originally Posted by falieson

I see about half a dozen phillips screws I am going to have to undo as well as the star shaped ones (which I don't have necesary tool for) that hold on the metal things that hold the hood down - as not to tear the heat shield... or am I missing something?
just let it fall through...ur just gonna do hella extra work for a lil tiny piece of plastic?? lol just let it fall through

same thing happened to me a few days ago (emblems were 11 years old). I got it out after a while with pliers. Id give it another try with your pliers. Also as a side note, did you get new rubber pieces to hold the emblem in, because my old ones were deformed, so i needed new ones.
19" Hyperblack staggered CSL's coming May 14th
Seems pretty stuck, maybe if I push even harder? Just kind of afraid to use more force than I am already... I guess what could happen but the rubbers get deformed?Originally Posted by cabezon

I guess it just seems wreckless to use anything more.Originally Posted by falieson
Turns out I am not a puss - you can't push it through buds. There is something on other side that is very hard.
use i thin screw and screw into that plastic stud and yank it out.
Now there is a good idea!Originally Posted by turbospool
Should be easy to drill out with a small bit. Just be careful.
This is exactly what I ended up doing, I drilled a 1/16 for the screw but the screw didn't hold and it just ripped out plenty of plastic so I just threw in a 5/32 and that got the rest,my new emblem is in and shiney... was gonna do that back one immediately but it turns out I have the wrong size!Originally Posted by gothicaleigh
You can get the little rubber grommets at the local stealer. If you ask really nice maybe they will give them to you. They gave them to me but thats just because I am there all the time and they know me by my first name. UGHH! I hate that.
I will take pics once i have my new rims on and my car is running again wednesday, and I have waxed it. :-D

I just did this the other day, you can push it through. I un-did the cloth underneath the hood and just took a screwdriver and a rubber mallet, and hammered it through with no problem.Originally Posted by falieson
I was able to retrieve one of the pegs that fell through, don't know what happened to the other one though, lol.
If the peg is long enough, it should fall through. If it's short enough, you should be able to push it enough so that you can fit your new emblem on.
Wow, never thought I would see this type of post.. This is funny as hell and REALLY sad at the same time..
