'98 E36 sedan pass. door mirror damaged...

My neighbor (honest!!) struck the side of his garage entrance with the stock passenger's exterior mirror, cracking the plastic "frame" (appears to be #18 on the ETK) that houses the mirror glass. The painted cover & glass seem to be OK.
    Does anyone have experience replacing just the frame - 51 16 4 197 450 - vs. R&R & expense for the entire black-painted mirror?

    TIA,

Hrm. I'm not sure how you'd separate the three. However, if I can find an answer in the Bentley manual, it looks like we may have another candidate for the install day .
