it would overheat and stress my hair, and leave me with split ends... no thanks.

btw, that 'dyno sheet' looks like another excel doc posted on e30 tech... here's a tip: at around 5250 rpm, something 'magical' always happens on a dyno. I'm not seeing the magic.

yeah at 5250 the lines always cross, that's how you can tell that this is a fake dyno sheet.

I'm amazed someone hasn't come up with like, an electric vacuum mounted in front of the muffler...

or, in my case, an vacuum at the bottom of my ashtray... I'd be smokin' then!

Not always depends on scaling. But 90 % of dyno sheets are corrected to scaling that shows that magic interception at 5250. Aside from that .........look at the rpms on that sheet! LOL! thats no bmw especially not an e30.

    Complete B/S.

First off, that dyno sheet is not from an e30. Look at the rpms.

Second, as has been mentioned by Febi Guibo and meseetree the torque and HP lines almost ALWAYS cross at 5250 rpm or at least very close.

    As for the supercharger itself...
They drain the battery, so fast in fact that you can only use it for a very short time before it kills your battery.

Not to mention I have heard you really get hardly more than 5hp gain, which makes sense. A tiny electric motor simply does not have the power to make much more from your engine. Think of it this way... How can a 1hp electric motor add 50hp? It can't. Diminishing losses, etc... You can get a little more because you are using it to acclerate another engine, but ultimately the power of the motor and the battery will not supply enough air.

Then there is simply the functional aspect...
Besides, based on what I saw on the page, if that is the complete kit, how do you stop the forced air from going OUT through the air cleaner? This will happen if the engine requires less air than the motor is providing.

Basically you are pumping air into a pipe with holes at each end, how much power do you think that will gain?

HP is the result of torque and rpm, they should always cross near there. Corrected or not. Unless something is really screwy.

    ...my haircare issues aside...

the reason this thing could never work is that breezing 'more' air into the intake (which this doesn't really do, either) is totally different than increasing the air pressure inside the combustion chamber...

a hairdryer isn't strong enough to boost the air pressure above atmospheric pressure

there is no free lunch; it's why ram air, cone kits (which I have, tres ghey), electric blowers, and all these other bolt-ons either don't work, have minimal or no gains, or retard performance.

This isn't hating, it's just like this:

I wouldn't say hp is the result or torque and rpm: it doesn't really result from them, more like they are used to calculate each other.

Nitro, there's nothing magical about the 5250.

There is a very simple reason why they cross at that number.

Horsepower is a function of torque. Nothing more to it.
    HP=(tq*rpm)/5250

So as you can see from the equation, hp and tq are equal at 5250.

LMAO! Not only does the "dyno proof" not have the horsepower and torque curves crossing at the mathematically required 5250 rpm, they cross a second time!

bmwmpower88: You posted a link to yet another electric supercharger that claims to give you huge gains and you expected to not get ridiculed? The most cursory search on any automotive forum would bring up page after page of people getting flamed for suggesting that they might actually work together with reasons why they don't. You also might want to ease up on the hypocrisy. You copy/paste the forum rules that state that there should be no personal attacks into the very same post where you wrote "You are an idiot and I can prove that for sure:"

some simple math... a 2.5L motor is approximately 165 cubic inches.

the blower makes 250cfm at some pressure head. that is 36000 cubic inches.

the motor needs 41250 cubic inches at 1000rpm...go ahead, choke your motor!!!
