    E46 328 to e36 m??

I am getting tired of my '00 328i and a huge reason is the automatic transmission.. :/ and the power!! So I've been doing my research and I am digging the e36 m3 coupe I am currently working 2 jobs and plan on selling my e46 in march. What do yall think? or should I just sell and get an e46 w/ manual and the swap cost waaaaaaay to much and is waaaay to challenging.. give me some input?

I made the swap a few months ago from a 2000 323i manual to my now 98 M3 sedan manual and couldn't be happier. My e46 was MINT and my m3 has a ways to go before it gets there but it was definitely worth it. BTW my insurance actually went down slightly not sure why.

Coupes are not "ghey." And sedans aren't exactly going for numbers THAT much higher (if any) than coupes.

OP yes get an e36 M you will love it

There is no need to be offensive in an attempt to make your point. Your link shows production numbers, not recent sales prices.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how does the data you posted relate to today's selling prices?

**Plasti dip can. Only temporary. Production numbers are not relevant to prices right now, maybe in a few years buddy.

E36M Sedans are waaaaaaaayyyy better looking than coupes.... there is no contest, IMO. That's not to say the coupe isn't handsome, because it is, but's it's no sedan.

I totally agree (and admit that I'm biased). But that's why I bought a sedan, in addition to wanting to look like a "soccer dad" (whatever). I know some have said the windshield is more upright. Obviously it's got more doors (and they're shorter and have a window frame), but I am a bit stumped as to why the lines on the sedan are so significantly better IMO.

    Sorry, I missed your humor.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but low production numbers doesn't necessarily equal higher value or desirability. As much as anything, low production numbers indicate a lack of demand during the years of manufacture.

And if someone is buying a E36 M3 as an investment, they are making a serious mistake.

The sedan is perfectly balanced front to rear. The front fenders shorter, front doors pushed forward, short doors, with taller roof, and the whole car slightly narrower.

The coupe is nose heavy with long front fenders, doors and a short looking trunk - a bit awkward.

    There's no contest

What is this, the Twilight Zone??? Get the coupe for sure. And the sedans are the same money as the coupes; they're all worth less than 10k unless it has really low miles.

I'd say if you shop around finding a super clean one w/ respectable miles for less than $8k shouldn't be a problem at all. I picked my coupe up last May for $6500 and it had all service records and has never seen snow; the undercarriage is perfect and there's no rust anywhere on the car. Mine had about 120k ish miles on it. I am right in the middle of having the rear diff rebuilt, but even after that's done I'll have $7500 into it and it will be perfect. Pretty sure the PO had no idea about it because it only started making noise on me about a month or so ago and I drive it every day. I've put about 15k miles on it since I picked it up. VERY fun to drive.

lol maybe according to you. I prefer the coupe.

as for e36m from e46 328. Itll be a great move provided you find a well kept e36m. I drive my bosses (modded)e46 330 quite a bit and its meh by comparison.

Just for the record this was a joke just as the other guy said coupes are ghey... No need for anyone to get the pantys in a bunch.

Opinions are like assholes, everyones got one. And to add to that, the vert is the obvious choice.

Well yeah, no contest. The 330 is a nice, solid (wink, wink) car but it's no 36M.

To me it seems that E36M prices have been increasing over the last year or so. Maybe this is just happening in the Bay Area.

I disagree. I think rare builds are always going to be worth more, even more so now that the production numbers are known.

It's OK, no one is perfect.

I'd love to pick up a vert--love the lines.

So with that logic, automatic fitted E36 M3s are bringing more money than manuals?

That's assuming each and every car had the same miles, was unchanged from factory, similar modifications or lack there of, same level of maintenance and same interior and exterior condition.
