I should have asked this when I posted my dyno results (post #164) but do the results seem low to anyone? Could it be that the auto with 200km + on it is eating up some of the power? I also dont think the injectors have been changed in 12 years, could this add to the problem? The top end was rebuilt a year or so ago so I doubt there is any compression loss (atleast from the head) Am I just being optimistic with what I should expect?
Just got back from the dyno so i figured i'd post..

Sorry it's a land & sea dyno
if VF didn't set the rev limiter to 6500 i bet i'd be over 240+whp
the car pulls strong from 3500 to redline. but i need more boost!!
What I don't understand is the dyno on VF's web site goes up to 6500, but they say the rev-limit is set to 7000. If you look at the dyno for an E36 M3, it goes till 6800. Have you asked VF about this?
I bet you'll get over 240 with the S50 cams.. I am really curious to see how the car will perform when you do the cams.
I need to find out if the VF supercharger will fit in an E30 M50. How happy are you with this kit? Most of the reviews I've read on it have been favorable.
Just got back from the dyno today and am VERY pleased with the results on the base tune provided by AA. Blue run is from today and the Red run was before the S/C.
Max Power: 284.63whp
Max Torque: 239.62wtq

Sweet numbers. Back in the Spring I had been talking to AA about becoming the first C-38 2.8L car, but the downside was no baseline tunes. I guess now they have baseline maps You and I have VERY similar setups, I'm excited to see more from you. Keep up the good work!!!

i called them on the phone after my break in about the rev limiter...they said that it is set to 6500, and 7000 for m3- I asked why and they responded with "it makes more then enough power at 6500
either way i'll need a new tune with the cams and added boost...so it'll get the limter set to 7000 then.
I had VF Engineering in Anaheim, CA install their newly developed supercharger into my 1994 325i Convertible. It had 60K miles on it when installed and now has 74K. I could not be happier!! The VF Engineering product is a solid performer and absolutely no problems..
I have included the dyno which shows 257.86 HP and a Max Torque of 215.06 ft-lbs. A SUBSTANTIAL improvement over the stock performance.
i have a bmw 325is m50 motor what type of hp can the bottom end take unmodified. Antone tried the ebay turbokits?
dont buy anything important/serious from ebay......
Contact VF Engineeering in Anaheim, CA for their Supercharger kit..
noob question..where do you get your car tested at?

yah where would i shop with a dyno be?
what kind of shops have it
Look for a performance shop in your area and contact them. I used Google and found Robert Bush Racing Engines, Day Motorsports, Qwik Racecars, and Race Car Products. Try any of them or look for more in your area, check the yellow pages.

New dyno on 10/12/2007 with the following mods:
Build Date: 4/97
Mods: Conforti CAI, Conforti Shark (S52 cam/M50 Manifold specific), Borla Cat Back, S52 Cams, M50 manifold, Fan Delete, ASC Delete, UUC Pulleys
Dyno Type: Dynojet, STD Corrected
Dyno Conditions: About 75 deg F
Gear Dynoed: 3 (Auto)
Peak HP: 203
Peak Torque: 182
Air/fuel: 13.5 - 14:1
Three dyno runs were performed, and results were consistent. 1st run was 201, 2nd run was 202, and last run was 203hp.
So basically, adding an M50 manifold and specific software and FDM and ASC delete and pulleys added 10hp to the wheels. Assuming 20% drivetrain loss (higher due to auto) the engine is putting out about 253hp at the crank (with 182K miles on the odometer). That is about 64hp over stock, for an increase of 34%.
I did the ASC delete by putting a rubber sewage pipe in place of the ASC and the stock boot, not the Samco boot. It works, but it is pretty soft and I do wonder if at high RPM when large volumes of air is being sucked in, if that soft rubber "sucks in" a little and maybe even oscillates thus disrupting the air flow. I will replace with a Samco boot, but am not dropping cash on another dyno run just to find out.
Injectors are orginal. I probably have a little bit of power to be gained just by having them professionally serviced and bring the spray volume and pattern back to what it should be. I am sure after 182K miles the injectors are a little "tired" and thus are losing me a few HP. I will do this in the spring, but again probably not worth another dyno run.
There isn't really much more that can be done here without going FI. Maybe a 3.5" HFM and maybe 24lb injectors might squeeze a little more out, but to do that I would have to throw a lot of money to custom tuning and I doubt that will gain very much.
I plan to do the auto-manual swap, and that will probably put me at between 210 and 215hp to the wheels. Will definately do a new dyno after the tranny swap.
I might go for a small 50 shot of nitrous to get to 250 to the wheels. Would definately do a dyno run afer this, because the dyno tuning would be part of this project to make sure AF is correct and I am not leaning out and destroying my engine. Also, will probably use a piggyback (plan to use SMT6) to "undo" the aggressive spark advance that the Conforti chip is doing so as not to risk detonation with the nitrous.
