Holy crap, that's inflated big time. Try taking off about 15-20rwhp.Originally Posted by Wildo2003

Sadly, this is what a shop does to make it sell better sometimes, inflating hps. Everyone would wanna go back and say "look, my stock car is got 20hp more than others!" or "I got 20 extra hp by adding a CAI + filter."

Even though the graph says flywheel power, that's impossible. Flywheel power is bare engine, or crank horsepower. You have to take into account transmission, driveshaft, differential.. the weight of the car was still resting on the dyno. The numbers are inflated over dynojet, but it is not flywheel. Even still... not bad for a basically stock setup. I guess the only way to know for sure is dynoing on a dynojet. Next time I'll dyno on one of those to know for sure..Originally Posted by M52 POWER!

there is no way in hell your bone stock 328 is making 185whp.....175-180 at the very most. Hub dynos are notoriously inaccurate.Originally Posted by Wildo2003

Yeah.. I thought about it, and I think 175-180 is more accurate.Originally Posted by T-Rex

I could be wrong, but I'm under the impression that the Dynapack is the most accurate chassis dynomometer out there currently. This kind of gets off onto another subject I guess. But I have a hard time believing that they took what I thought was the most accurate dyno on the market and back calculated a flywheel hp # based on assumptions. I suspect they have some way of characterizing mechanical losses to back up Wildo's numbers. And if I recall the advertised numbers correctly (194hp/205tq), his 194 hp matches the stock number, while torque is up like 5 ft-lbs with to 210 with just a couple minor mods. Makes sense to me. Sounds more like a communication issue (whp vs flywheel hp).Originally Posted by T-Rex
That makes 100000x more sense - I can easily believe those numbers for flywheel, but not for wheel horsepower. FWIW, I've heard the most accurate dynos are roller dynos - hub dynos don't take the weight of the wheel and the accompanying loss of power into account.Originally Posted by Gary328i

I'm not sure on this. They may have designed the dynapack disc that bolts on to our hub to be approximately the same mass & inertia as a standard rim/tire combo. Having never even seen one in person, it's hard to guess. But conversely, tire slippage (I would think especially so on turbo cars) could become an issue on rollers. I'll have to do a little reading...Originally Posted by T-Rex

Recently did a trans swap with an open 3.15 but I had run the same car on 2-1-2006 on a Mustang dyno with the auto trans, AA gen 3 exhaust, Sharked, cone K&N filter and ran:
Peak HP: 164.4
Peak Torque: 171.8
I will post my graph soon.

Stock is 138hp on that motor, correcting for 15% drivetrain that puts me at ~186 hp at the crank, or ~35% gain, which is about right with basic forced induction, everything else stock. Exhaust will be first, then run the boost up to ~11psi, with engine management and maybe water injection.

I've always heard to dyno at 1:1, or else you get exaggerated numbers (gear multiplication)?Originally Posted by ZeroG

The guy at the dyno said uncorrected works better for me, he sent me the winpep files though so I can look at the corrected ones. All I know is I pulled on my friend who has exhaust, intake, pulleys, and m50 manifold on an M52. kinda crazy.

Nice numbers Matt. 200rwhp isn't too far off. Remove the cats, 3.5" hfm, 3.5" elbow and you'll easily be over 200rwhp and 185rwhp.Originally Posted by CrazedBMW
^As far as I know no one has ever used a 3.5 HFM on a 325. The most power i have heard of out of a N/A 325 was 212whp. And even at that you wouldnt need to use a 3.5 HFM. Although if you put 21.5# injectors and use a piggy back like the SMT-6 you can make some good power. If you look on this website: www.euromelee.com, and go into the members section and there is a red 325i in there that makes some nice numbers.

prestomb: do you happen to know the email or contact info for the guy who owned that red 325i on euromelee?
i was thinking about smt-6 but i don't know where who to turn to tune it once i get one and the 21.5# injectors? i was thinking active autowerke in miami since i'm close to them.

Well the guy that used to own that 325i from euromelee is a memeber on here by the name of "Nico5spd" I beleive. As far as the 21.5# injectors go i would say go for it and see what active can do for you. See many use the Piggyback because there is no off the shelf tuning for M50 with S50 Cams AND 21.5# injecotrs. I beleive that if you wet to active and explained what your trying to accomplish that they could do a custom tune for it. The best thing about the situation if you went to active would be that now there is software that anyone that puts bigger injectors can use. It would be costly for you to be the first individual to do it, but if you were able to show that other members such as my self would buy a chip with that setup then maybe they would lessen the price because they knew they were going to be making a bigger profit from it.

I also think dynopack is the most accurate dyno out there.
And I think it's flywheel power as it says.
