    E34 540i Touring: Problems???

    Hi Guy's,
New to this part of the board

I am looking at buying a '95 540i Touring, it has done 72,000km and has a full BMW service history and is in immaculate condition.

Can you guy's point out some of the common faults with this model, and should I be expecting any trouble from it??

    Thanks heaps.

    I don't think there was a E34 540iT... I've seen a 530 but never a 540.
Maybe in Europe but not in USA.

We get the Euro models here in NZ, the the 540iT.
    Alusil engine ('95).
    The control arm bushes, noted.
What about this self-leveling non-sense, is it problematic??

Yes it can be, but it's easy to delete and change to a sport spring/shock setup. Or you can just replace the self leveling shocks when they start to leak if you like to keep her a stocker.
