If I drive normal my fuel consumption is normal. I should mention the car has 162,000 miles, also I do not have the correct software for the cams. I'm waiting for my new motor before I get tuned.
These numbers are disappointing...I know exactly how you feel. I was expecting 215. But I did find out though that I'm running really rich after 4,500, near 10:1 A/F, probably had a hand in the disappointing results.Originally Posted by Crazy 13immer

im on sea level, 80F humid as hell, so the SAE corrected hp could only be higher, not lower.

I had the car dynoed in 2004, w/ a performance chip (chip logic) at the same dyno facility I just used, and it dynoed at around 209hp (peak) 208ftlbs (peak)....Thats on a dyno jet. STD correction factor.
as for my numbers now.....
I figure w/ the proper cam software I should be able get that number up a bit. Of course I'll never know because by the time I get that corrected there will be other factors involved. (i.e. increased displacement, ported head, bigger valves).. If I haven't reached 250 ft lbs by then I'll just turbo the damn thing.
it is what it is....

i just have a badass car.
new valve retainers, valve springs, cylinder head gasket may have played the part. i also drive my car hard, so ECU may have adapted the map to it. i did two pulls, second one was 225 whp, 226 wtq.

Octain# is also important
Ok, ever since I dyno'ed my car, I have not been able to understand why I'm pulling so high of a number.
My car is a '97 318ti w/ a '98 S52. Run on a Dynojet @ 74F SAE corrected...
Here are my numbers:
214hp
217tq
All I have done is a cone filter shoved on the MAF. I'm using a shortened stock M3 exhaust. Drivetrain is otherwise stock. Pulls were done in 3rd, 4th, and 5th, all resulting in the same numbers +- ~1hp/tq.
Looking to trade my SnapOn KRL1022 w/ Stainless Top for a turbo setup and coilovers. $8600 new.
Just dynoed my new "used" M3 (Silver 99) bone stock. And amazing that I pulled just as strong as my modded M3 (Red 97).
Here's a dyno for my 1995 M3 at Elevation.
-AC Schnitzer Exhaust
-Jim Conforti Chip.
Gotta love living in Colorado!

97 M3

SAE corrected, it's about 200HP at the wheels, which is pretty spot on from what I've seen.
From yesterday....with new M50 manifold, WHP 231 WTQ 213 - (old setup 216 WHP 217 WTQ)
Mod list - M50 manifold; TechniqueTuning Stg2, Apex Arc-8, ZKW euro, clear corners Mike R diffbrace, Koni Yell with HR race
X-brace UCC tranny mounts -BLK/with enforcers, powerflex rtabs, lcabs, AAfanclutch, mishimoto rad, UCC Ultra-cerametallic Clutch.
You will go through days of joy and days of sadness as the pursuit for power leads to madness...
My sheet...only mod not in my sig is the ASC throttle body butterfly removal.
AFRs are screwed because it was a sniffer.
Sorry no base lines.

where do most dyno shops place their wideband O2 sensor? do they take out the pre-cat normal band O2 sensor and put it in there? if so how does the car run with the O2 sensor taken out of the loop.
I understand that in WOT the O2 sensors are taken out of the loop anyway...open loop. But what if you wanted to see closed loop AFR data?
With a cat the tail pipe sniffer is highly inacurate, right?
