Math to get crank HP from dyno HP...

Hey guys, so what math would you use to go from a dyno's HP to get crank HP? I would think it would be something like:

    (dyno HP) x 1.15 = (crank HP)

So taking for example a stock 95 M3 with a dyno in this thread who put down 209HP, we would get:

    209 x 1.15 = 240.35

But I am totally guessing on these numbers. Anybody know the real way to do it? Not sure what the driveline efficiency numbers are for our M's...

It depends on the dyno. I would say for a dynojet a 15% loss is a good guess. For a dynapack I would estimate more like a 20% loss.

    Peak Torque: 242

I might have a vaccum leak and maybe need a custom tune.
This was my first dyno test ever, and didnt realize i didnt get the RPMs on the chart. so thats why the chart looks weird. i have to get another one with ODB_II exhaust manifolds.

Dyno'd the car again after the 24# injectors and euro hfm. And today at the dyno shop I realized that my old dyno was in STD correction and not SAE. Which means that I only had 225rwhp and 207rwtq instead of 230 and 212. I realized this after I dyno'd it and put down the exact same numbers (in SAE correction). So basically I gained 5rwhp and the tq basically stayed the same. I'm concerned about the afr since up top it was getting rich, where as 2 months ago it wasn't getting rich up top at all. I tried to change my fuel filter on Thursday, but it turns out that my motorswapped car has retained its 325 fuel filter, since the m3 one was too long to fit in my custom location. Maybe this is the reason?

So is this a fairly average gain for just adding hfm and injectors, considering that I was already running software? I only wish I had more tq.

I'll post the dyno up tomorrow.

So here is my last dyno from Saturday. I really like the way they emailed this to me. Again, you can see how rich it got toward the end.

I'm dissapointed. I figred the OBDI 3.2L would get more than ~10-15hp, assuming the intake/manifold setup is ~15hp.

    Ideas?

Screw rich! Look how lean you are in lower RPMs. I would be careful with that mixture.

I totally agree. My roomate had similar AFRs on his supercharged Nissan maximum and his car was pinging like crazy down low. He recently blew the headgasket because it was running so lean. I would get a retune if I were you, 94is.

How do you know that your injectors were maxed out? I'm about to put in a AA chip with stock injectors and 3.5" HFM. I hope to dyno it ASAP to make sure I'm not leaning out too bad.

Yeah, I've been trying to get ahold of Drew from TMS. I don't know if they can adjust it tho. I was thinking that my afr may have something to do with my fuel filter needing to be changed.

How can you tell if your injectors are maxxed out form a dyno plot?

I was a little disappointed, but people say this is what healthy '99 M3's put out with what I have done to it. Will try again after a couple other mods and in lower temps.

Wow, I just bought my HFM and 24#injectors. I'm waiting on my chip... But these numbers are really dissapointing.

What would be the 1/4 mile difference between a stock M3 200rwhp and one with these mods 220hp?

Also, for those of you with 24# injectors, how is your fuel consumption?

fuel consumption seems fine. The injectors have a higher flow capacity but they are tuned correctly so they don't necessarily use more fuel. The Jim C chip does get rich up top, though.
