Are the Bavarian Autosport High Performance Ignition Coils worth $239.95 (OBD1 cars) for us F/I guys?? Are they that much better than stock M3 coils?? They say you get "more torque in the low end, more horsepower in the upper end and better fuel economy." Any of you running high performance ignition coils?? What brand?? Cost?? Are they worth it??
I am running the Plasma coils. I paid like $280 for them. They seem to give you a little more Pep.
No one else?? So far it sounds like it is a waste of $$$
I dont know if they are the same as the Ignition Solutions but they have allowed me to run 17psi on stock compression so........Originally Posted by FORCE FED M3
Waste of $$ just make sure you coils are good and your in bussiness!!!
I wonder if the Bav Auto coils screw up oBDII adaption the way the Plasma Direct coils do...

For performance, I'm not sure. But I think if you're running into any sort of misfire issues, these will help. They did for me, anyway.
Is that $240 each? I can get the stock ones for about $70 each from one of my part suppliers. They are Bremi too, just like OEM.

hey iam kinda out of my normal forum here but i have a e30 with a 95 m3 engine swap and iam running Ignition Solutions plasma coils. I upgraded from the bavarian coils . I noticed a change in my idle and throttle response with the bavarian coils........ (it wasnt too much of a change but it was there). Now i that i have my Ingition Solutions coils in . I can definatly feel it .... i would say the bavarian coils arent a bad alternative to stock coils . hell they'r cheaper and they give a little performance gain. But if you got the bucks i would go with the plasma coils .
just make sure your obd-2 car is tuned for it or you'll have adaption disabled by the dme without knowing what's wrong. they also throw a CEL every 2 weeks on a stock DME.
Hey man, I'm a professional!
That is for the OBD-II DME?Originally Posted by themadhatter

that's correct, obd-1 shouldn't be effected.

It's been a few years since this question was originally posted. And I believe it is still relevant. Current prices for OEM ignition coils for my 2003 BMW X5 3.0i run about $40 each. With the price being the same as the BAVAUTO performance coils I'd say its worth the gamble.
Yeah, in my experience with them they sucked. I bought new Bosch coils and tossed the Bav Auto ones in the trash a few years ago.
Turbo E36 M3 with all the things..
Most aftermarket ignition stuff is garbage
BMW E30 325is M20B33 in the making....... ITB's, roller rockers and stroked to the hilt
I run the Audi R8 coils on my s54
Does anyone use IGN-1A coils?
