Can't you just pull off the knob and unscrew the bulb?

    Angry Update - Beware

OK here it is, I pulled off my gear knob and there doesn't seem to be any way to get to the bulb / LED but after getting my gearknob leather cover off (gator) I found the problem.
There are 2 cables coming from the gearknob and the brown cable had snapped in two because I imagine it was chaffing, I have now repaired the wire and twisted and enclosed the 2 cables in some sheilding (heat shrink tube) and wrapped it in electrical PVC tape, this should I hope protect the 2 cables from chaffing and breaking. My M-Tech gearknob had only been on the car for about 8 months so it did not take long to chafe and break and I was very careful with the routing of the cables when I installed it, so anybody else who has done this mod it may be worth 1,checking your cables and 2 protecting them as I have so that you do not suffer the same problem.
Not a massive problem but definately one of those bloody annoying ones.
