    Flushed coolant

so far so good. Drained radiator and engine drain plug at least four times until clear water was coming out.
then i refilled with 1 gallon of BMW coolant and 1 gallon of Alhambra steam distilled water(de-ionized and reverse
    osmosis and blah.. blah..)
well as long as it does it's job. i await for the engine to cool down while i write this post.

well all went well. the temp needle stays steady at mid-point exactly where it used to be since i flushed coolant.
Today in bay was a blistering 96 fahrenheit/ 34 celcius.

    Thanks for the report.
I usually pay the mechanic to flush for me.
I suppose I could find the steps online and do it myself.

Is the waste water hazmat? Or did you just flush it down the sewer?

I assume you performed several bleeding sessions with the heater on and the temp setting to full hot. If not...do it. It could be costly if omitted. Get a second opinion.

Glad you said something about this, Cek. I was about to ask the same question per the instructions in my Bentley manual. Seems like a couple months ago, someone on this board did a coolant flush/refill but forgot to bleed the system, and it resulted in a mess for him. You must get that excess air out of the system.

the first lot of coolant that came out of the radiator and engine drainplug., i diluted the coolant before flushin it down the drain.
i then flushed the system 4 times with 4 buckets of water until clear water was coming out.
Here is what i did to bleed the system. With the control on full heat inside and the engine cold i poured 1 gallon of BMW coolant and i gallon of distilled water until the bubble free coolant was coming out of the bleeder screw. Well kinda. Then keeping the coolant level at the Kalt/Cold Mark and closing the radiator cap but keeping the bleeder open, i started the engine. As it begans to warm up and reach the normal operating temperature more bubbled coolant comes out of the bleeder i kept the bleeder open until only coolant/water was coming out. After closing the bleeder screw, i waited for the engine to cool down completely and the coolant level is now below the Kalt mark. I added some more distilled water or tap water will do to bring it up to the mark.
When bleeding is not done properly or there is an inherent leak/crack inside, air is trapped in the system as bubbles. Air being a bad conductor of heat will also tend to remain heated and thus destroy the system.
