I raced a 03 or 04 Mustang GT today. It had an intake, magnaflow exhaust, chip, and a 4.10 rear.
We went from 20-110mph, I kept up till about 70 but between 70-110 he slowly walked me, at the end he had about 1 car on me. I was actually surprised he won I figured he'd get me down low but up top I'd regain.
I'm all stock though. Both are manuals. I have an S52 btw.
nice race. Mustangs are not slow.
shaweet!
Good run. First bimmer v. Mustang race Ive read about on here in the longest time that happened how you would think it would happen. He's probably got you by 3 mph or so trap speed, thats why he pulled.

Thanks guys I was expecting to read this hearing "why the hell didnt you smoke him blahblah" lol. I appreciate the feedback I thought it was a good race too.
That sounds about right. I actually raced my buddies GT tonite countless times. He has Flowmasters and a BBK Intake. We did 2 40-120 mph rolls (the first of which I won by foot lenghts and the second of which he won with my front bumper just behind his rear). And we also did a 0-80mph roll where he has a CL up throuh 2nd, but he ended up beating me by about a CL. So, I think that the outcome of your race sounds right. I'm actually surprised that you hung with him; you must be a great driver!

Those Stangs can easily get up to 290hp with those mods. Good race, man.Originally Posted by m3Sedan240

sounds like a good race, next time honk at them while racing and see what they do... joking....
Thanks again guys. Those Mustangs are definitly respectable cars.
Considering he is 7 years newer, has two more cylinders and close to 50% more displacement...I'm still impressed by our M's.

Any auto Mustangs are much slower than the manual version.Originally Posted by 98///M3

You mean flywheel (crank) hp? I assume so. Most people go by rear wheel hp, and coming from a stock ~235/240 rwhp, those mods would net you at best a 15-18 rwhp bump, however, that 4.10 gear will cost you a few hp on the dyno. That car he raced was probably putting down a bit over 250 rwhp, 260 at best.Originally Posted by snaybird1000
Autos don't trap as well as manual cars, but their et's are usually spot on and sometimes a bit quicker than manual tranny cars. Roll on races are not their forte.

I love roll races. I actually prefer them because of major traction issues during launches. My 1st -2nd shift can also be a biatch with no traction.

Actually the 99+ V6s aren't bad at all. The complete embarrassment was the V6 previous to 99. They were getting like 150hp out of a 3.8L V6, PATHETIC!Originally Posted by 98///M3
The 99 V6 engine was revised and got 190hp, which was good for low 15's or high 14 sec 1/4 passes.
OH and I actually ran with an '02 GT Friday night. My buddy has a bolt on (K&N "C"AI, pullies, header-back, 4.10) GT good for 13.7 @ 103ish and could go faster if he had a good run. We raced from halfway through 1st until halfway through 3rd (between red lights) and we were door to door the whole way. He says he spun the rears "real bad" but I didn't hear it. He'd NEVER admit to not winning against an import. I love the car but my goal is to one day beat his GT with my M3. I tried in a supercharged Miata but after coming a long way (mid 14s) my money was going no where and he still could hand me my butt. I honestly think over 100mph I could walk on his GT, but I won't say anything until I do....M50 is on its way
