Lightbulb You guys think I know how to drive/drag race?

Bob Cosby, in his 99 Mustang Cobra, all bolt ons, naturally aspirated, this past Saturday in the heat at Atco Raceway pulled off:

    12.02 at 112.1 mph w/1.66 60'

    Here's the impressive part:

    312 rwhp and 3470 raceweight.

I have ~10 more rwhp and weigh 500 lbs less, and my best run this summer in 82 degree heat (it was hotter and more humid than that, at Atco this past Saturday!) at Atco in June was an 11.95 at 114.1 mph.

The guy is amazing!! I'm good, but he's great!

Ha ha ha, I thought that said BILL COSBY. I was like, what the hell is that old guy with cash doing in a Mustang Cobra? LOL, oh well, I'll lay off the caffeine for a bit.

Maybe your car needs a smaller jockey.

Have you ever sat down with your dyno chart and plotted best RPM to shift for each particular gear?

Actually John, that's exactly the first thing I did with my dyno sheet- plot launch, shift points in each gear, etc. The BMW lay out is actually very well thought out, and with my software my redline is 6500 rpm, with stock gears (3.07's) it's actually nicely laid out for shifting at redline in most gears, etc...

Bob has 4.56 gears (stock are 3.27's in the 99 Cobra) and he was on BFG Drag Radials.

More than anything, I wanted to share this info with you guys, to show you that while I'm a good drag racer, I ain't "all that".

Bob has been doing Mustang drag racing for a VERY long time. His times in his 87 coupe are the things of Mustang Legend.

From what I understand, he's resurected the coupe and someone else is going to be running it.

Bob is amazingly consistent and cuts awesome lights and 60's regularly. Now, if he can just stop breaking transmissions, he'd be on fire!

    Later,
    John.
