This started happening about a week or two ago. At idle I hear my car around the engine part a knocking sound. It sounds like a hollow pipe knocking. When I run my car the knocking goes away but when at idle it comes back. It is a deep knock and constant also, it doesn't get louder or anything.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks
Khoa

How's the oil pressure? Gotta gauge? Seen a change?

Is the noise there when the AC is off or only when it's on?
Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?
I have the AC problem I still need to get it fixed.
Hey Khoa, have you popped the hood to try and figure out where in the engine bay the sound is coming from?
~Chris
I popped the engine up and can't figure out where it is coming from but the engine. The oil is full and fine. I don't have a pressure gauge for the oil at all either. The noise is there with and without the A/C on.

Is it a loud hollow "thud" type knocking? or a metallic, clangy knocking?
~Chris
its like more of a thud noise.

I'm betting that something is loose or worn which is causing something to bump around when it's not supposed to.
Hope your mechanic figures it out dude.

My car is haveing the same exact problem. Did you ever figure out what was wrong?
Did you ever find out what it was?
Do you guys realize this thread is 4+ years old??
The OP hasn't been logged on since 10/7/04.
For what it's worth, the strange knocking noise I recently had was caused by loose spark plugs.
not to beat a dead horse but I had a simliar sound awhile back and it turned out the crank pully bolts had come loose a little.
