If not, are there any flywheel/clutch combos where the clutch is as heavy or lighter than the stock 328 clutch?

the most common combo is the UUC stage 2 lightweight flywheel and m5 clutch.
the clutch is a little heavier but the flywheel is lighter than normal to make up for it.

You can get the Fidanza flywheels which looks INDENTICAL to one sold by another popular BMW tunning co. (i hear it really the one they sell) for like $425 from Cox Imports and an M3 clutch from either bimmerparts or Autohausaz for about $300. Thats what I did and I am am VERY happy w/ this setup.

since the 328 flywheel is heavier than an m3 stock flywheel, any extra weight from the clutch disk and PP won't matter. a m3 flywheel/clutch/pp is lighter than 328 flywheel/clutch/pp stock.
If you need an m3 clutch/PP/TO bearing i have one BARELY used from my car b4 i went to a SPEC clutch. Im going to put up a FS thread soon, let me know if you're interested; i'm not looking for much.

how are you diluting the weight savings? the flywheel is like 2lbs lighter than the ones made for the m3 clutch to make up for the weight difference of the m5 clutch, not to mention the m5 clutch would hold more power and such.Originally Posted by jmott
i had a completely stock 328i when i put in the stage 2FW/m5 clutch and it made a big difference.
The reason for replacing the clutch is not for weight savings, but because the clutch has to be the same size as the flywheel. AFAIK, you'll need a M3 clutch to match up with a Fidanza LW flywheel.Originally Posted by jmott
The UUC Stage II kit is a e34 M5 clutch kit and a fw that is lighten further to make up for the heavier e34 clutch.
