I scratched my glass cause I'm a idiot... can I buff it?

Well I had some residue from tape on my front windshield that I tried to take off while washing my car. I scrubbed it off with the rough side of one of those two sided sponges. Now my glass has a hazy spot from all of the tiny little scratches I put in it.

It is possible to buff these scratches out??? If so can you recommend something to use.

    Thats what razorblades are for.

You might be able to get them out, if you use some rubbing compound, or some polish, but it will not be easy. It really depends on how deep, and how large of an area is effected. It may not be economical to try to remove them, and you may do more harm than good.

Well right now it is a big hazy spot right in the middle of my view so leaving it there is not an option either... I had the glass guys fix a chip in the winshield a while ago for $25 so if I can't fix it I'm sure that can do some of their magic on.

Ya, they will be able to buff it right out then.

However, you could probably do it yourself. There are kits to polish glass on the market, sometimes local auto stores carry them, some times local hardware stores carry them.

Have a look at www.eastwoodco.com They have a glass polishing kit that I'll be trying soon 'cause I did the same idiot thing you did - NO more scotchbrite pads on soft BMW glass!

    Good luck.................

Also try steel wool grade #00000 (extra fine) instead of the Scotch Brite pad next time.

I wish they would pass a law against selling those pads!! The kitchenware and bathroom chrome they have destroyed. :
I know no other solution to your problem than to get a new windshield. -C
