Yeah, but be carful because once it comes off you can be pulling so hard that it comes up and hits you in the chest (ouch).

I thought it was pull like a mother...short of punching yourself in the face.

It takes approx. 90lbs of upward force to pull it off. Don't punch yourself in the face, like I did. It hurts.

    LOL.....you guys are funny....

on my first bimmer the knob was loose and once while shifting from 3rd to 4th (rather quickly) the knob flew off into the back seat......

but yeah, it takes alot to get knobs off that are attached properly

I just pulled mine off yesterday, I found that pulling the knob upwards and "shimmying" it a little side to side will allow it to escape the grip of the locking ring thingie, then the rest is easy.

    Question illuminated knob

I also got a new knob (illuminated). The thing comes with like 10 feet of wiring. Wouldn't it be possible to just take the wires that go to the completely useless coin light, and route them to the knob?

** just pulled the old knob (came off quite easily), and replaced it with the illuminated one. I guess I'm answering my own question, because I wired it to the coin light, and it works brilliantly.
