    E36 M3 Auto-x spring rate suggestions..

Calling for spring rate input... I DID search, but the height issue clouds the topic.

99 M3, stock bars, GC track/school kit (SA Koni) 6" - 450/500, 255 VRs, running SCCA BSP on a local level. Car sees the drive to the track monthly and 4-8 runs. Then back home, minimal street use.

We recently began using a different area with better grip. Last month, on a hard left turn, I loaded the right front to the point the tire got a good hold of the fender lip and peeled it out significantly.

This is after 16-18 events with no issue... I believe those spacers are 10mm, but I can't go less with the SSR/VR combo...

Perhaps a 1/4" rise would do the trick, but the perches are maxed out.

Time for taller springs so that we can raise it, or would simply a stiffer set of springs be the answer? Suggested rates?

    Scott,

I'm running the same setup spring rate, spring length, and tire wise (with Kosei K1s/TCK Koni SAs) and have had no problems thus far.

FWIW, my ride heights are 13" front, 11 7/8" rear.

Maui, I had the same thing happen to me this past season. During 2 seperate events I peeled a little off the outer edge of my right front tire. I raised my front adjusters up 1 full turn and it is good so far. I still have maybe 1.5 turns left. My spring rates are 525/600 with a 15mm spacer on 17x9 SSR's and 255 Victos.

    Hi Gene,

I'm lower.. more like 12 3/8 up front. The thing is, I can't raise the collar further and that makes me consider either longer and/or increased stiffness.

BJO... what sort of ride heights are you running? You're happy with those rates (525/600)?

Other than the spring rates, our set ups appear to be darn similar wheels, tires, spacers...

    12 3/8", wow that's low!...I think GC recommends 12 3/4 as optimum, I'm surprised you're topped out...I'm topped out at 13...

How much neg. camber were you running when the lip rubbed the tire?

You could try running short tender springs on top of your exiting springs if you can drop the perch low enough.

    Are the lips rolled?

GC plates maxed out... guessing ~-3.5º. Lips not rolled.

    We're looking at more spring.
