Hi, I am Dubs and I'll be your newest member for today.
I live in Perth Western Australia which is about as far away from most places as you can get. Hence the reason why I tend to buy most car and bike parts from the US, even with some of the exhorbitant shipping prices some want to charge most things STILL end up cheaper than buying from my local stealership.
I have just bought my first BMW - a 1998 E39 5351. Its a 4 door with a little v8 in it.
It has 110k kms (roughly 68k miles) I bought it from a mate who upgraded to a 2008 M3.
At the moment it is pretty much bog stock.
I am looking at doing a few simple mods:
headlamps (after reading heaps on here it doesnt sound as easy as I first thought to buy a good set of P+P)
grill to plain black instead of chrome
fix the ashtray cover so it actually closes
clear side markers
maybe an M5 bumper
Any input as to some easy/cheap/effective mods that a technically challenged guy can do himself would be greatly appreciated.
I am big into bikes here in Perth as we have such long hot summers, I have a 2004 Suzuki Hayabusa that rocks and I help as a mod on a local forum with just over 5000 members.
Not much else to tell first post, no doubt a lot more reading and some stoopid questions will definatley be asked by me.

Hi all,
I've been reading a bit here today and thought that I would join up. We (wife + 2c/climbers) have a 1993 530i E34 (hers) and a 1998 740iL E38 (mine). We both love our cars and especially the 7 on long trips to Perth. We live near Carnarvon on a station. No real mods to cars other than Alpine DVD player in boot with screens in both headrests for kids. Only problem with 7 is that my arms are not long enough to thump the kids when they play up, but oohhhh what a car.

Hey guys - Sam from Hobart here.
Bought a 98 E38 740iL a week ago and drove down from Sydney. Beautiful cruise, even on a 40 degree day. Couldn't be more happy with the car, excellent condition but already had a mechanical problem - coolant pipe blew. Guess we'll see how it pans out...

Hi, Jay from Melb. Running about in a '91 E36 318i, am doing my first DIY on replacing the bulbs in my window switches with LEDs and later going for a red theme throughout the cabin. Will post pics and a guide if anybodys interested, cheers.
