Any other Aussies here ?

I'm in Sydney.

Have had my E24 for almost a year, love it with a passion

Had an E30 for about 10 years before that, wish my garage was bigger, I'd still have it.

Before the E30 I had VWs and had a brief flirtation with Alfas & Fiats, but came to my senses eventualy.

Yep!
I got my E36 318is six months ago.
Couldn't be happier with my first Beamer (bimmer,beemer,behmer everyone around here spells/pronounces it differently)
No mods yes except for a ecu chip that was overwritten before I got the car.

There are a few other Aussies I've spotted around the place as well. One guy from WA, one from Adelaide, one from the Gold Coast and one from Canberrra. I'm sure there are more.

It's funny talking to these yanks that think all we do down here is eat kangaroo and throw boomerangs!

+1 for the aussies.

Had my 1995 328i 5 Speed for over a year and a half now and love it.

Only done basic lighting mods so far. Clear tails, Chromium Angel Eyes, 6000K HID Kit. Very impressed.

Would like to do more but need to save some $.

Sometimes they (yanks) think we are a bit in the middle of nowhere hey? Least they don't watch cricket so they won't go on about the ashes

Does anyone know where to get replacement thermal/acoustic foam from, for the bonnet, as its perished and just shitting the engine up.

Not cheap and probably only from the dealer. Try the german wreckers in Rocklea. The might have a wreck there for you to harvest from.

Hey!

I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips onto putting a M3 engine into a BMW 318is. is it even possible? has anyone done it? if so.. how!!!?

318is -> M3
Yeah it's possible but not cheap. New engine,gearbox,radiator,DME and suspension and brakes to do properly.

Yeah, its pretty much pointless.

You'd literally have to spend M3 money to build your 318 into an m3.

Suspension on the 4 cylinders is diff due to the engines weight - so a 320+ you could drop the engine in without suspension changes being 'necessary'.

Rather than spending money on that you might as well get a DASC or something..

For your aeriel you could try either Dave Waltons or Bavcars down here on the coast if there's nothing in Brissy.

Anyone keen for a Bimmer cruise? Theres a few non BFC, BMW owners here on the Gold Coast talking about organising one.

On the Gold Coast, own a 2000 e36 316i, currently only a vdo dayton navigation system and a grill, but i have a pioneer deh-p8500mp head unit, pioneer gm amp, audiobahn apbn121n sub, space key car alarm and black 17x8 m3 style rims(love em) ready to be installed, im getting speakers soon, sum 28% tint and ccfl angel eyes(anyone know where i can get these for cheap), cheers,

p.s. i think im the only asian on this forum(dont woz, im not planing to make my beamer ricey,lol)

Anyway If any of the Sydney based Aussies are interested a few of us are having a drive up the old pacific highway on friday 30th Dec.

Destination Newcastle, slow drive up the old highway, lunch and a drive round when we get there, home via the F3.
