You connect the angel eyes to your parking lights. I did that at the headlight unit. Saved taking the wires all the way through the engine bay and firewall.
If you have done that. Then the reason they aren't fading is because you haven't connected the parking lights (at the headlight switch) to the dome light (through the relay).
If you follow the diagram shown in previous posts. You will see exactly how to wire it up.

Thanks for clearing it up, I didn't get a relay so i used the diode thing from radio shack just like the diagram with no result, but when i ran it straight to the dome/foot light it worked. Now my question is would it be a problem if i didn't use that diode, because when I use it it doesn't work when I don't it works ?

The only thing that i can think of is that you have the diode around the wrong way..

what the diode does is stop the electricity going both ways.

You want the electricity to pass through when the dome light is on, so it turns on the parking lights, however, you don't want the dome light to turn on when you have the parking lights on..

and without the diode, thats what will happen.

Yeah. they do get hot.. just wrap in with some heat shrink or electrical tape.. its not really hot enough to do any damage to anything.

Glad to hear you got it working.

Great little mod done this on all my BMWS EG E36,

The question ive got are the same colour wires being used on a E39 (5 Series), found a thread on a different site just for the front, but would like the front and rear lights to come on when unlocked same as this wiring?

    Thanks Sam

    Hi Sam,

Honestly, I really wouldn't know since I don't own an E39. You might be better off asking this question on an E39 forum?

    Sorry. Good luck!

If I want my fog lights to turn on when unlocking the car, how can I do that?
Can I tap a wire from fog light + to relay harness going to the footwell light?

I don’t really know if you’re still here but i want to ask you, what if i want my dome lights activated when im driving? And angel eyes to fade in/out as well. What im gonna do? Do not use a diode?

    Wow, this is old.

The diode stops the dome lights turning on when you turn the headlight switch on (park lights or headlights) - Otherwise you’ll be driving at night with the interior dome light on.

The dome light will function as normal IF you put the diode in.

Yep that’s what I want, when there’s no light in the street I cant see anyhting in the dark so without the diode my angels can fade in/out and dome lights stay. Thx for help
