I'm talking about 17x8.5 with 245/40/17's.

Modifications
I do. I've used BFG KDs and S-O2s on the wheels. The KDs required a spacer, but the S-O2s do not. Anectodal info says that the S-O3s and Pilot Sports fit as well without spacers.
Yes, on a stock suspension. Fits just fine.
I've run the following tires:
Michelin Pilot Sports
Yokohama AVS Sports
Bridgestone SO-3
All fit without spacers. The Yokos "polished" the strut tube a bit - just enough to remove a bit of the shoe polish I placed there to check clearance. Otherwise, absolutely no problems.

Would you venture to guess that these would fit fine on a car with H&R OE springs as well?Originally posted by Jim Bassett

Yes, they do. They also fit on an M3 with a GC coilover suspension with Jay's recommended spring rates for the street and Eibach Pro-Kit springs. (I'm on version 4 of my suspension.)
Good, then my plan to run 17x8.5" polshed forged rims w/Pilot Sports or S03s will work just fine.

Oh, there is one thing I forgot. I am running -2 deg. of camber in the front. This really shouldn't matter since the clearance issue is not with the fender, but with the spring perch on the strut.
yah, for my track setup. In addition, a buddy or mine runs 245/40-17's on 17" X 9" all around for his street setup.

Wheel/tire to strut is not affected by camber, unless you shim or use crash bolts

Okay, Jeff, please refresh my memory. What do you run for the track versus for the street (which wheels/tires, size, etc.)?Originally posted by frayed

running kumho ecsta R comps (non staggered) on 8.5" OE 10 spokes for the track, running 17 x 8 BBS RX's with staggered setup for the street.
The staggered setup was a huge mistake. But, at the time I was battling crazy power on oversteer. As it turns out it was not my prior non staggered setup, but roasted, overly-heat cycled and glass like rear tires.
Will go 245's all around when these tires are shot.

Does running a staggered setup vs. non-staggered make that much of a difference? I have a staggered setup and I'm wondering what the benefit of non-staggered is.
I think it does. My winter rims are non-staggered, albeit running skinny 215s all-around, but I notice a difference. Much closer to neutral steering than with the staggered setup. I'm hoping the same is true when I throw 245s on all four corners.Originally posted by kapolani
