The only advice I can offer is DONT TOUCH THE BULB EVER. God, seeing it out like that makes me cringe.

I guess its just wiring up the power to the igniter, grounding it, and riggin up the bulb holder from an old 9006 headlight to a fog light housing...
Fourteen seconds after turning in my lease car: "Well...these last three years are pretty much pointless now."

    Questions for you:
What made you say that those are 9006 HIDs? Are the bulbs rebased to fit 9006 housings?

Or are those unmodified D2S/R HID capsules?

Either way, E36 foglights take H1 bulb, but that doesn't mean you can't make those HID capsules to stay in there.

Easiest way: get H1 rebased HID capsules.
Harder way: either modify your foglight housing to accept the HIDs or
modify the HID capsules and find a way to secure them in the foglight housing.

Here's how 6K rebased HIDs would look on fog lights.

Note: they are somewhat useless though, now that I have retrofitted E39 projectors into my low beam, so I migh
    t be taking them out.

    A little PITA, lol.
I became very familiar with my dremel, after that project.
But the results are worth it, much wider beam that also goes further on top
    of great cutoff.
I'll see if I can get some pics.

Can you get some wallshots of your HID? That way, you can confirm/see if there's a lot of light that causes glare. Maybe it was just the camera setting in the first pic that caused it to look like 1,000 watt lamp.

Do you have HID's in your low beams too?

I have to admit, 6K HID looks badass at dusk, esp. with just the city lights on.
