Has anyone neard about the 2006 X3 and the new engines?

I have a 2003 330ci but am thinking about trading to a vehicle with 4-wheel drive.
So natural I went to BMW. The X5 is a bit out of my price range so I test drove the X3 and I do like it, but now that the new 3 series have new engines with the increased HP I was wondering if there was any confirmation from BMW the new engines would find their way into the 2006 X3's.

In that case I will hold off.

    Thx

My dealer told me this weekend that the 2006 X3s and X5s which will be out this fall will sport the updated engines as well as the X5 getting the 360hp engine from the new 750i.

I thought that engine went from the 4.8is to the 750i?

Nope the new engine in the 750i is the new quad cam DOHC 4.8L with 360hp designated the S62 whereas the engine in the 4.8is is the older DOHC dual cam N63 with 355hp.

Now I may be mistaken but I heard that the S62 was going to the be the base V8 in the X5, replacing the 4.4L motor. This mean there will be no "is" model X5 anymore or atleast until the redesign.

X3 start at 30,300 for the 2.5 or 36,300 for the 3.0, but they can get pretty much to around 50K if your not careful with the options. There are actually some pretty good lease deals on the X3, but they are actually better for the 3.0 X3 than for the 2.5 X3.

For MY2006, there will be no X3 2.5. Only the 3.0 will be available and BMW has not stated 100% that the new 3 series motor from the 330i will make it into the X3. You would assume it would be logical that they would though.

    The X5 4.8is gets a slightly different motor than the 650 and 750's. The 4.8is has 355 hp/369 ft-lbs. of torque. 6 and 7 series cars are 360hp, 360 ft-lbs. of torque.

Not sure about the X5, but the dealer here in Germany (US car sales) told me that there was no change in the engine for X3 for 2006.
