Does anyone know if the Magnet repair works on a 1994 318is window motor? I see that the 1993 has a removable "door" that exposes the magnet on the shaft but the 1994 motor doesn't have this door and from all the pics i've seen including inspection of my window motor does not reveal where exactly this magnet is. Thanks for any insight.

Thanks for any help repairing the "inching" problem on this motor.

Bumping this thread to save anyone doing this repair tons of time, effort and frustration when attempting to pop the regulator into the plastic sliders. Use a 6" C-clamp locking pliers. Job done.

Thanks for the tip! Will channel locks work as well?

Completed this task yesterday. It went well thanks to the OP and subsequent additional info. Thanks to all.

I bought a new regulator and motor. I think my issue was probably a bound up window in the vertical window tracks because when I disconnected the regulator from the plastic slider clips, the window stayed up. It took a good bit of force to get the window to slide up and down so I sprayed the rear track with PB Blaster and that got things loosened up so it moved more freely.

I ended up using the original regulator as it was of better quality than the new one and was functioning properly. I had to use the new motor as I had to turn in the original motor as a core. So I don't know if the original motor would have worked once everything was freed up.

One thing I thought I would pass along from my experience:

The only issue I had was when reinstalling the regulator assembly, I decided to test it out before clipping in the window sliders. When I did this it would go all the way down but not all the way up. After a couple of attempts, I decided to CLOSE THE DOOR before attempting to raise and lower the regulator. Voila...it worked perfectly!

So make sure you close the door before operating the regulator.

    Thanks again to all!!!
