    86 325e brake lights/rear lights/turn signals not working

Last week I bought my first e30, an 86 325e with a near perfect interior, decent paint, it runs great and has been well maintained. I just ran into my first problem with it. Only one of my rear lights lights up, both turn signals flash too fast in the dash and dont flash at all outside, and when I press on the brake pedal the brake lights dont light up. I checked all the fuses and bulbs and they are all fine. I havnt checked the switch for the brake lights because, frankly I dont know what the hell to do. If it is just a wiring problem how much will it run me to get it all repaired by a mechaninc, how much to do it myself. Where is a good place to find information on how to take care of this type of problem outside of the Bentley repair manual. Thanks for any help.

I'd check the plugs within the light assemblies. Clean the contacts on both sides and make sure they're seated well.

Use a test light and check fuses and check the contacts in the rear lights, rewire if need be.
