Just thought I'd bump this. Very informative thread..

Looks like I'm throwing an O2 sensor!

I have the same thing showing up but mine is the 1222 code and it says it could be the sensor or something else which is causing it... damn fuel intake!!

What does it mean when you only get ONE flash?
When i did it before i was getting 1221 which is o2 sensor and i know cuz it's not plugged in.. but now i only get ONE flash..
It does the initial one long solid light, then it goes out and flicks once, then one long solid light again as to say it's starting over, then one flick again.. it does this time and time again.. ??

One long was the indication to enter clear the code errors. (assume you fixed them) You answer by one long press on the pedal. But if you do not see the code errors 1221 first, Your ECU may be lost or has an error and thus the one flash. Plug back the bad O2 to see if it clears.

Did the stump test on my E30, but doesn't show the common 4 digit code. From the beginning it flashes twice, a pause, and then stays on.
Does anyone know what this is?

Please take a look at the title as it contains the link to a video of the flashing sequence.

Why on Earth wouldn't one just buy a Peake tool? Stomp tests might be good in a pinch- but for a regular DIY'er or enthusiast- kinda lame, no? My Peake was the first "BMW" specific tool I purchased, along with a Bentley manual.
