So for some reason my driver's side door refuses to unlock or open from either the inside or outside. The pass side door will also not open from the inside. This has been going on for about a day or two now and I'm forced to either enter dukes of hazard style through the window or climb through the pass side. Anyone have a problem like this? The car is an 89 325i.
Thanks
Evan
Sounds like the central locking control unit has gone bad. I would also replace the drivers door lock and latch asembly just to be safe.

Can you unlock it by pulling up on the knob?
Have you tried using the trunk lock?
Knob doesn't work on driver's side, but does on the pass side. Trunk opens fine.
try pulling on the door from the inside (pushing from the outside) while you pull the door handle to open it..when mine did this is just needed a vibrant soaking of wd40 on the latch mechanism

yeah, i'm gonna hit it with the wd40 this afternoon, see if that works.
I think the central locking thingy has gone sour. The guy I bought the car from had it replaced a while back, I'm thinking it is that.
I had the same issue with my 89 325i. I took the locking mechanism out and cleaned it with degreaser. not a problem since. Or try some WD-40. The WD-40 works for a while, but then it happens again. You have to keep on it. Good luck!Originally Posted by Evegan

I hear that it is a common problem. Mine is only on the driver's side. And when it starts to get bad, I don't know. . .seems like it stays good for a while, then starts to act up again. The degreaser didn't solve the problem. I think I'm going to have to replace it.
