I posted this here and the lounge because it is really not off-topic, for those that are considering waxes for their E36 I can make no higher recommendation than Zaino.

Hands-down the easiest wax "system" I've ever used, leaving no stubborn residue, an insane shine, and no swirl marks. I'd been hearing about this wax from various boards now for two years, so I thought I would give it a try, with the end result nothing short of spectacular. I highly recommend this wax to any and all that consider it.

    Just kidding

Hey, what happened to the roundel on your wheel? It fall off? I've lost two personally :o
Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?

    They were just ....old.

Being 4 years old, they were funky, peeling, and overall too nasty to be on my car anymore, so I pulled them off. I have to buy some more, but I'm too lazy to get off the couch now that I'm done hand-polishing my car (like 12 times).

Yup.. Zaino.. thats what I use too on my car.
Very easy to apply and remove and give your car that that awesome shine.

I used clay bar first before applying Z1 though (using Claymagic's clay).

Also I never got that far with 5 days. The best I did was clayed, z1, z5, z2.. then Z5 the following week.

I was recommended to Zaino by one of my friend.. who religiously cleans his car every other week and applying Zaino almost every month...
Here's some photo of his Accord...

and shiny!! And it's on a BLACK car... for a while he always lightly dust his car in the morning.. and spray on z7 before he leaves his place...

    LOL

That's my kind of crazy! It's probably not too long before I'm there myself. At any rate, there's no doubt he keeps his finish in top form.

Ya... I think these two photos are taken after he finish "washing" his car... no waxing or polishing was done right before the photo...

Zaino does rock. I've been using the Blitz/3M hand glaze combo suggested by Larry at Carcarespecialties.com. While I have had good luck with it, I think Zaino is better.

BTW, there's another prodcut out there that I've found to work consistently as well as Zaino, Finish First. It seems to me this stuff is actually the same as Zaino. finishfirstpolish.com

While I am very much a traditionalist, and would like to think the a good Chamois, good car wash, and good carnuba wax is the best combo, I've switched to The California Water Blade, Adsorber, Finish First/Zaino system. Faster, and the results last weeks, not days.

Excellent job on the write-up. One question though--where's the wax? My understanding is that polish is different than wax. Polish dissolves some of the paint to clean up scratches and dirt. Wax simply provides a protective layer of wax.

Your car looks incredible, in any case.

    .....damn, good question.

Thanks SF - and I never thought about that, but I think the Zaino "polish" connotes a ...waxlike substance? Maybe I should go read that last bottle a little closer!

dear God...that accord's paint rocks.... (CMT, yours looks pretty darn good too)

so Zaino is a wax or polish?? I also thought a polish is almost an abrasive that "wears" scratches out and a wax sits on the paints surface and protects it...???

    All I could find...

"Zaino is a true and total paint protection system. One application of Zaino Z2 or Z5 will outlast & outprotect any product in the industry and provides total protection, far exceeding any wax or polish product."

And that's the only word on the wax/polish question from the materials they sent me.

Zaino is a polymer, a synthetic wax replacement. It has no abrasives, and is not a 'polishing compound'.

like to say 'hey' to everyone.. my friend jt-kgy constantly sends me links of interesting posts on this site.. so i'm pretty much a regular here.. after months of reading, thought i'd finally register and post up...

thanks for the compliments of my 99 accord. in addition i don't pretend that my car is faster than it is. JT-KGY still kicks my ass in every race. i guess i'll have to compete in show and shine to beat him at something.

as for zaino, the only reason it's not called a wax is because it doesn't contain any actual 'wax', like frayed said, it's a synthetic polymer that enhances the look (like a polish) and protects the finish (like a wax).

    thanks everyone.

    What up Syclone..

Your Accord is ...transcendent (can't think of any good words, it's too early, and I've already used "insane"). I had one myself before the M3 and though I tried, it never looked half as good as your sedan. I applaud your commitment! Crazy, man. Craaaaay Zeee.

    Try, "Splendiferous." Ha ha...

CMT, what the heck are you doing up at 8:30? And what the heck am I doing up at 8:30?

How's life? Just got back from the track last night. Even better than last time... I still can't get off this high. I'm just ticked as hell that it might be 2 months before my next one...

    talk to you soon,

    Enjoying retirement.

Also booking flights to my house in SC., I think I might head down and sun my delicate psyche for a month or so! How was the track? For that matter, how is the car? I always wondered how much wear track time places on the car, but it can't be more than the wear mine receives on a daily basis.
