m50 oil leak (non vanos motor)

ive got a 92 m50 non vanos motor i just swapped in my e30. before i put the motor in, i changed the oil pan and the valve cover gaskets.

i've noticed some oil spots in when its parked. now a few hundred (maybe) miles later, its pouring oil.

it appears to be coming out around the oil filter/pump housing...

any ideas of things that leak in that area? is it that common to leak around the oil filter/pump thingy?

Mine leaked there. Would make a big mess on the side of the engine and transmission.

It could be the oil filter housing. I had a leak similar to SHOracer and replaced the housing, and now the leak is gone. It was quite expensive for the part, ~$400.
