    325e Speedometer not working?

My friend just got a 84 325e and I've been helping him out with some maintainance items. For some reason the speedometer isn't working. All the connectors look fine, everything is connected, but the speedemeter doesn't work. All of the other gauges in the cluster work. I pulled the speed sensor from the diff, and everything looks fine. Is there a way to test the sensor? I don't have a Bently manual, so can someone help me out?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bill

I have a similar problem, but in my case I think it's the connections and it's the temp and rpm gauge.

Did you check the little gears inside the gauge? Just a thought.

Not yet. I was hoping to avoid pulling the cluster apart.

yeah, I guess it is a pita, and these little gears get quite expensive, too. Good luck man.

    Thanks.

I guess what i'm looking for is: Is there a resistance value range for the speed sensor so I can test it. I believe the problem lies in the speed sensor, but I would like to be sure before I order a new one. Anything else I can test before I pull the gauge cluster apart?
