I'd do everything black but that's because I think white interior looks like shit. White would be hard to clean and wouldn't look right in anything but an old cadillac, definitely not for a BMW.Originally Posted by Lavalamp
i was thinking about white because white would add a nice luxury touch, and also cause i live in florida and black would be hot during summer

This site sell cases of 6 cans (only) for $24.99 per case. That's like $4.17 per can.

last one,
dye is still holding up after year+, also painted the carpet with carpet/fabric color from pepboys. Not as good as vht, but my carpet looks like washed away black rather than washed away purple on stock "black" carpte interiors on the e36's.
just need some new black floor mats
my old 318is cabrio had an interior just like yours. i paid 900 euro for it. it was leather not vinyl.
check out some pictures in my 318iS photo gallery

so this stuff is AMAZING! i went to the store and bought a can of black and a can of white, took out my door panel inserts and did black with white and it looks sooo good. heres my plan, keeping my dash and black seats. black b pillars and black door panels with the white inserts. then white a pillars and c pillars. and a white carpet, headliner, and rear deck lid. i realize that it will be hard to keep the carpet white so i plan on sticking with the black factory floor mats. now just invision that. i think it will all look amazing! and it will look liek i spent $2000 on a custom interior change, when really it will be about $100 in dye. im just wondering if anybody has ever done this, and if so, how many cans of paint did it take to do carpet exc... because i have to order then and i dont want to run out half way through (or even worse. when im almost done) but i also dont want a bunch of left over cans. thanks guys!
if someone is brave enough, a red 740 interior would be really sick. might not wanna risk it.
Kill Mary?!?
im still gonna do the two tone, but i just need to find out how to remove the center section of the door panel from the rest of the door panel. mine is cut(because it was bubblin and i didnt like it) and i need to re wrap that or pick up a busted door panel with that piece still intact

This looks sweet! Possibly picking up a red/tan 325iX this weekend. A black interior would be a whole lot sweeter!
that e34 is awesome that was pretty much what i was thinking.

Fiirst question:
Okay so most people in this forum swear on VHT satin black as the only true match. Then this gentleman used VHT Flat Black. (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...9&postcount=32)
Please confirm the difference.
Second question:
Some folks used the clear coat, now in my mind, it would add a little shine to the surface. Is this true? What brand, title, of clear was used?
Third question:
Everyone agrees that the door panels need to be removed, and the middle section taped off, was blue tape adequte in preventing dye from "running" into the middle section? Was the middle console section dyed/sprayed in the car? Or did you Brush/sponge the dye, too prevent overspray.
I also have the Tan interior. Just looking for some clarification. Thanks Zach.
Anyone?
There is no VHT "Flat Black". He was referring to the Black Satin
I have used sem many time for all kinds of parts from seats to dashes . The main thing is to make sure its clean. I use wax and grease remover or laquer thinner. Sem also has there own cleaner. I prep the item with a red scuff pad. Then I blow off and wax and grease again. I usually put 2 light coats and the last one on a little heavy and wetter. I never had any reason to clear anything when it drys it always looks great and even. I know a sem dealer who does mail order and carrys most paint supplys . AB supply 510 651 1914 just tell them tim sent you.
