On my '88 325i, when my transmission downshifts into 3rd, it downshifts pretty hard. All other shifting up and down is smooth.
The previous owner said that the tranny was re-built and that that downshift was typical of German transmissions.
Is this true? Could my transmission be going bad?

mine is the same...I'd assume its normal

I hope so. I know more than enough to get by about auto transmissions as I did a class in college for them. To me this is concerning. how long has yours been doing this?
