Car wont start or turn off!!! AHHHH

today i went to go turn my car off and the key came out and the car stayed on, i couldnt turn it off with the key. It wouldnt move whatsoever so i had to stall the car and disconnect the battery, to get it home i had to push start it. anyone know why i cant turn my key???

Sounds like your ignition tumbler just broke off. My mechanic warned me about this. It seemed that this is another E36 common problem. My mechanic quoted me about 200$ for the fix and the parts have to be special ordered because it's fitted to your ignition key or something. I have yet to get mine fixed.

you are right Vroo//m my igntion tumbler needs replacing and my ignition switch.

Bummer...my ignition tumbler feels like it's getting a little looser these days. I'm sure I'm on the list for one of those new $200 tumblers in the near future. :-(

If you replace the tumbler will it eventually go bad again or have they fixed the flaw?
