I bought Bimmer magazine this month because it has a good article on the whole Z3 era. Well written, couple of nice pics. It's a sort of retrospective, so for us, it's like a collector's item.
The title is «Z3 : the end of the road», and here's how it begins : «Since its introduction in 1996, the BMW Z3 roadster has been bringing smiles to its drivers and inspiring loyalty in their hearts.»
I couldn't agree more!
1999 Cosmos Black/Dove Grey BMW ///M3 convertible - 5 speed - SOLD
2005 Atlantic Blue Pearl/Taupe Leather Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Wagon - 5 speed - SOLD
2014 Tenorite Grey/Black Mercedes-Benz GLK 250 - bone stock.
2013 Bianco/Rosso Abarth 500c - 5 speed
2016 Oxford White/Grey Ford Transit 250 Powerstroke 148 MR (DIY RV conversion)
I'll look for that, thanks! How did they end the article, any mention of the Z4?
No.
A nice, poetic ending would have been nice, but it relates the history of the Z3 and the line-up changes, and at the same time it's sort of a buyer's guide. It ends with comments on the Coupe.
I'm sure a couple of analogies would have ended the whole thing way better. Right Dave?

After I read it, if you permit my poetic license, I'll be happy to elaborate for you later...
