Got interested in "going to the track with dad" when I was 7 or 8 and had a blast going to watch drivers schools at Roabling, Road Atlanta, Rockingham, etc and eventually club races in '95.
Tried auto-crossing when I first got my E30 at 16, enjoyed it for about two years but quickly became bored (4 minutes of driving for the day!?). I've enjoyed doing HPDE and solo days at CMP over the last year and a half and hope to learn Road Atlanta and VIR next year ($$$$).

I usually track the 325is, but the M (stock) was a stand in for the 1st points event
Anyone want a stock 99 M3? I need a truck

I've been Autocrossing for about two and a half years. The reason I'm on here is that I'm helping a friend do some research for building an M3 STU car. I don't own a BMW, but will likely pick up one of those M3 thingys when I finish grad school. Great forum!
I guess I don't have permission to post pictures yet...sorry

Driving freak, instructor and enduro racer (when I can find a ride) and VERY slowly turning my car into yet another IP racer. I throw the occasional autox in whenever I just feel like some play time, but road courses are what I call home.

Was told to get outta the kills forum and get into the track forum by someone. Decided to make an intro
I'm Chris, yes, I drive a neon.
I've only really been doing limited racing as I'm on a short budget (neon, remember?)
Drag, AutoX, and limited circuit. I would like to eventually get into full on circuit out at Summit Point in WV, I doubt it would be in the SRT4, probably in something that's RWD, and lighter.
Anyway, I'm here, hope you don't mind a neon owner poking around the forum
BTW, my next car, per my wife's decree, is going to 'reluctantly' be an E46 M3 coupe
Never made an intro.

Oops, I realized that I never introduced myself on this sub-forum.
I am Bill, from Atlanta, in the process of preparing a Spec e30 car. My plan for this year is to do as many DE's as possible with the goal of having a competition license by the end of the year, right around the time the car will be complete (it basically only needs a cage, LSD, fire equipment, and a few other small things).

My Signature says it all, Jon. This is a very helpful thread & a great idea.

1999 M3, currently being overhauled for being more competitive in cone dodging in Honolulu, Hawaii since our track got shut down, and no where else to "race" Currently active duty Navy, 24 years old, and deployed to Southeast Asia. Got hooked at Road America, with a friend who invited me to go to one of the DE's he was participating in. Rode in some E36 M3's, turbo porsche, Audi TT, and a full race prepped E46 M3.. got hooked, and when I got out to hawaii purchased my E36 M3 to do DE's and auto x'ing
I've done 3 De's, and 4 auto x'ing events so far, and plan to do ALOT more, once I get stationed back on the mainland

My track experience is mostly limited to HPDEs with various groups. I'm an instructor for TEAM Racing and TrackMasters. A few weeks ago I completed the SCCA driver licensing school at Thunderhill and got my first experience in a competitive environment. The other tracks I've driven on include Infineon and Laguna Seca, Hockenheimring and the Ring Nordschleife, as well as pretty much everything available in PC racing sims. Definitely hooked!
My track car is a '96 M3 with various suspension mods (H&R), roll bar, race seat, and some other mods.
I am developing my own dashboard, data acquisition and analysis system. It is based on a Mac mini that I put into the car that is getting input from a 5Hz GPS and various other sensors. Developing everything myself is a great learning experience and I'm having a lot of fun doing this. Who knows, maybe I'll make it available to others when it's all done. Let me know if you're interested.
In my day job I'm VP Software Engineering at Elgato Systems, makers of EyeTV and developers of Roxio Toast products.

Track Car: 1993 325is
Track History: Ran my first school in early 2002 with Tarheel Sports Car Club on the South Course at VIR in my ’91 Subaru Legacy wagon. The following week, I bought my ’93 325is. Done somewhere between 25 and 30 schools since, and my 325is gradually made the transition from stock to fully gutted, race suspension, cage, BBK, with many of the other usual upgrades. I hope to do some BMW club racing soon.
I belong to Tarheel Sports Car Club, Tarheel BMWCCA, and SCCA.
