I'm a poor college kid trying to get into racing. I plan on eventually starting with autoX and eventually run on a track.
October 2011 edit:
BMW CCA LA chapter co-chief instructor for the autocross program and driving school instructor. Funny to read where I started and where I'm at now.

I can personally attest that the thread starter indeed gets easily confused. Right now my racing is limited to opc's (other people's cars). In fact I race the thread starter's car with him in enduros, at times of the race when he might otherwise throw up in his helmet (true story)!

I bought my '91 325i for $350 with a stero headunit worth $500. My car is at the shop getting ready to go through MD state inspection, inspection is good for the life of the car, and the car will be street legal for the life of the car unless I sell it or move out of state
I am just beginning to build my first track only car. I had a 2000 325xi, but now drive a 2002 Mercedes C230 Sport Coupe which I've been autocrossing and using for DE. The 325 is the replacement, and I am working towards competetion licensing with NASA first.
Expect to see lots of questions from me unless I find what I am looking for using search, so hello!

I'm not a big-time track whore like some of you, but I do make it to 6 or 7 DEs each summer here in NorCal. Matter of fact, I've met a lot of you guys at said events.
On the slate so far for this year: TH with the Lotus club on 3/30 and with Trackmasters on 4/15.

done a few track days with my m3, and am completly hooked. but i've grown tired of having a $20k bmw i drive once every couple months, and a $400 POS truck i drive everyday.
so, i'm currently in the process of building an M20 powered 2002 for track use, and use the m3 as the daily driver again. funny, i've always told myself i'd never have 2 modded cars... i guess i'm a sucker for go-fast-parts.

I love autocrossing and do some track days. I've only got 3 tracks under my belt. Thunderhill...loved it!!. Button willow...Great!! And Portland International Raceway...so so.
As much as I still have to learn, I feel my knowledge surpasses my experiance. Which isn't good. But I'm trying to change that!!
Soon I will be running the E in STS.
