what is this part called? do i need to replace the whole thing?

Hi guys, i have a bmw 1994 325i. Ive searched everywhere for a replacement of one of these and cant fine one. Mine has 2 large chips on the faceplate and makes it look very ugly. Do i need to change the whole unit or can i just buy a new faceplate? Also what is the exact name for this part? I hope you can read my writing in the pic

Since it doesn't have to be replaced you may want to look to getting it off a "parts car"... and be glad its not this

Hellrot325, is the item you are pointing to the same as
#22 in this pic of the glovebox?

    Real oem link
I have crappy looking 'wood' trim pieces on the glovebox, around the automatic shift knob, and in the flat storage compartment beneath the OBC. I would love to replace with something else. Maybe I can just prime and paint them gloss black to match the interior.

    Has anybody replaced their's?

I did the Woodgrain Delete Mod (see sig) and yes that's it. I would not suggest painting it as the WG is plastic and smooth but the black aternatives have the same grain as the dash and center console, and are not really "glossy, unless you are totally out of control with your ArmourAll I hate WG in a 3er...more a 5er thing. Here is the after

Heres tight shot of the trim, see the grain. Yo uwont be happ ywith painting it...I did it and it stands out because of the "no match"...I got the glovebox trim off this forum used for $25...and the sunglass cubby trim is only $7 from the dealer. My shiftknob was broken and a new one $17 at a dealer.
