Just wondering what a '98 M3 4Door, Automatic, Silver with 66k is worth. I am able to buy it for 12k. No current damage anywhere...Nice and clean. Clean title.
Is this model desireable?
Is 12k worth it?
Thanks for your input guys.
I would never ever buy an auto M3. But if it wasnt for the auto part, sounds like a very good price. Did you run a CARFAX on it? Does the seller have all service records?
auto M3s are very boring to drive...if you can go with a manual...then it would be even better.
but then...as i can see, you live in Cali....Automatic on the Freeway is the best...due to heavy traffic.
by the end of the day...my legs becomes paralyzed..after a 1-1.5 hr commute that should have only take 15-20 minutes

My 98 M3 5 spd with 77,000 miles is nice and I would expect $18,000 for my 2 dr coupe ...then I would deduct $2,000 for 4 door body... and another $1,000 for auto... and would pay $14 to $15 for an avg 98 4 dr auto m3 ....so at $12,000 you have a good deal depending on condition.

That seems very low priced, which is not necessarily bad. Silver is a good color, but it is very common. Having shopped for and bought 2 M3/4's in 3 years, an automatic brings about 2k less than a 5sp. I actually found the M3/4's brought a premium over coupes because they were only made for 2 years. YMMV
although the price is good, wait for a manual.....I had a porsche 928s4 auto before my M.....I liked it, but could never really enjoy the 300+ Hp it had because of the tranny....I'd STRONGLY advise waiting for the 5 sp
a four door is rare and worth every penny but i have owned 4 m3's now and if it wasnt for my smg i would never leave the clutch.. on the track and street you will get sick of the auto and the resale is alot tuffer on a auto if you decide you dont want it.. a four door is nice if you have a family i had a 97 and it is a good sleeper and alot cheaper on INS... plus when you are driving it you will never know the difference.. I hope this helps.. i sold me red 97 four door stick for 11,500 with 50k on it and a salvage title..
The auto transmission is also a 5 speed (for those who insist on calling the manual a "5-speed"). I enjoyed driving my friend's auto M3 sedan. Would I trade my manual for an auto? No. Would I have purchased an automatic? No. But that's just me.
Well I bought an 97 M3\4, auto, silver, 89K, one owner, bone stock for 14k 2 weeks ago. Even though I have always opted for a manual tranny I had to go with the auto because of Houston traffic(my daily driver) & the other half needs to drive it(teaching her to drive a stick is not going to happen).
I think you are a little confusedOriginally Posted by RedmondRocket
your are really confuse on deduction for a 4dr vehicle here homie the clown. It was available for two years...hell, they prob wont produce it again. But have to understand, auto is great for daily grind on the freeway. Shit, 12K for 66K, you put it on this forum for two days, some one will snatch it right away much less one owner. Get it, you wont regret it, I bought mine two days ago for 13.6...and damn almost speechless.
Where are you hurting?
It sounds like this would be an ok buy, not a steal. It would be a 2nd car so, I am probably going to pass on the car. Thanks for the replies folks!
